1. It is extremely hard to go past a placegetter at BM 78 coming back to a BM 72 with the same weight so SALISANO looms large. Gets up on pace and is very fit.
2. Nash Rawiller seems to have a knack for riding Midway winners and he’s on HUON here who also has placed at this level recently. Must be included.
Bisley BM 78
1. KAPAKIRI isn’t all that good but he is very fit and this is his home track. was closing 5th this grade last start and will battle away.
3. LINCOLN ROCKS has a big weight but is 2nd up and is expected to improve. Damp track will be helpful too.
Gr 3 Pago Pago 2YO Males
1. STATE VISIT won a midweek race coming home his last 200m faster than anything on the card at debut. He clearly is very talented. But, will he be close enough to launch an attack against this much tougher field? He did win like a star in the making.
2. SKYHOOK is still a maiden but perhaps shouldn’t be. Narrowly beaten in a very similar race after getting a knock in the straight, so big danger.
Gr 1 Coolmore Classic Mares
1. Lots and lots of doubt about LADY OF CAMELOT getting 1500m at Gr 1 level, especially against a rising superstar who ran her down over 1400m last start. But I think the tempo will be a bit sifter here and she can grab a lead as they turn for home and hold on.
2. OLENTIA is ready. She’s 3rd up and her 4th last start was an outstanding run in a race where she was given no chance of winning. This is her home track too. Big danger.
Gr 2 Ajax Stakes
1. He has a big weight but has earned it as he is by far the best horse in the race. I’m talking about PERICLES who, should he run up to his best, will win this.
2. FREEDOM RALLY has been racing well in tougher races. Is 3rd up here, down in grade and will make his presence felt.
Quayclean BM 88
1. Gai and Adrian saddle LES VAMPIRES who is in very well at the weights here. ran 3rd in a tougher race when resuming. Much fitter now and looks the one to beat.
2. Lots of Friday money has come in for GLINT OF SILVER who is also 2nd up. Very reliable racehorse.
